The Big Move: From Big Corporate Life To Excited Entrepenuer
For the last two and a half years I worked at Unilever in brand management. If you don’t know Unilever, you probably do, it’s that massive global company that owns mega brands like Ben and Jerry’s, Dove, Persil and Hellmann’s. I absolutely loved my time there and I cannot tell you how much I learnt and grew as a person and marketeer. The learning curve was steep and at times painful but I fully believe that everything happens for a reason and I am grateful for every day.
However, towards the end of my time there, I was beginning to feel an itch. I knew and felt very passionately about my life purpose “to have a wide-scale positive wellbeing impact on the world” and I wanted to use my love of health and fitness to achieve that.
I’d known about FiiT for a little while, mostly because my best friend and golf partner Sarah Davidson was a FiiT Founder trialling there app so I’d hear her bang on about it 18 holes at a time! I was so interested in the concept so when Sarah told me that they were hiring, leapt at the chance to be involved. In between showings of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child I head over to Stratford to meet with one of the founders Ian (my Harry Potter +1 aka my mother was made to go and wander around the Olympic park during our meeting so I didn’t look like a massive loser lol).
I was thrilled when Ian asked me back to meet more of the board and even more thrilled when I was offered the full time job of marketing community manager; reporting directly in to Ian the head of marketing.
If you haven’t heard of FiiT then a) I thoroughly urge you to go check it out here because it is incredible. If you want to train with some of the biggest and best trainers in the country anywhere, any time and at low cost - this is the app for you!
I feel so blessed to have such an amazingly fun, impactful and diverse role here at FiiT and I can’t wait to watch the company grow and myself with it! Above all else, I feel thankful that I get to reach so many people and help them to live their healthiest, happiest, best lives through the work that I am doing. If you do something you love, you’ll never have to work a day in your life again 💕
I’ll keep you updated on my FiiT journey and post about some of the amazing lessons I learnt at Unilever also but in the mean time, I’d love any comments, questions or feedback from you! Thanks for reading!
